WHO ARE THE NGH CHOIR?
The Northampton General Hospital (NGH) Choir is Northampton General Hospital's very own non-auditioned choir formed of NHS workers. Members of the choir are employees from wide areas of the hospital including doctors, midwives, volunteers, nurses and many more from the NGH family.
The choir pride itself in embodying the NHS spirit and strive to improve people's lives through their singing, be this by raising money for charitable causes or singing in the community or even within the hospital itself - whilst having fun too of course! Founded in 2013 and continuing strong into its fifth year, the choir continue to host regular concerts for notable charitable causes. most recently Do It For Dementia. The choir recently raised over £1000 for the refurbishment of NGH's Chemotherapy Suite and were delighted to sing for the opening of the centre. In addition to this, the choir enjoy performing for events it the local community, most recently at Northampton's Christmas Light Switch On, and also at local care homes, and with the Military Wives Choir. One of the most enjoyable times for the NGH Choir is Christmas, where they enjoy singing for patients, colleagues, and visitors to hospital and spread the festive cheer.
The choir believes in high-quality singing across a wide range of musical styles alongside its easy-going and friendly ethos. They are are sociable and friendly and rehearse on Tuesday evenings at 7pm in the Hospital Boardroom.
In April 2017 the choir were delighted to welcome local soprano, Jessica Smith, as their Musical Director, and Katrina Warcaba as their accompanist later that same year.
